Georges' Annual Open House

John and Dathel Georges Annual Christmas Open House - During the holiday season in New Orleans, Joel produces many fabulous holiday
events. But for five years running the event of the "social" holiday season is the annual Christmas open house hosted by John and Dathel Georges at their home on the famed tree-lined Audubon Place, a stone's throw from St. Charles Avenue, in New Orleans.

Every year Joel centers this soiree around a larger than life themed (and edible!) holiday centerpiece. From white chocolate flocked trees to gingerbread Cajun cottages each display is truly a culinary creation of sweets that will tempt you to eat the "art." The party, attended by some 300 guests, is well known even beyond New Orleans social circles, and has been featured in the pages of Vogue and Harper's Bazaar Magazines.

 

The Georges' Menu

Chipotle Barbecue Glazed Salmon - Presented on a Silver Platter with the following in Silver Revere bowls: Black Bean Salad, Roasted Corn Salsa, Cilantro Crëme Fraiche and Fresh Cucumber Relish; accompanied with Grilled Flour Tortillas

Seared Portobello Mushrooms - Served with a Tasso and Cheddar Fondue for dipping

Grilled Gulf Shrimp - Resting on crispy Polenta with Boursin Cheese and a light mustard sauce

Dim Sum - Wonton Dumplings and Pot Stickers filled with finely chopped Pork, Chicken and Shrimp; accompanied by a Sweetened Soy, Sesame Orange and a Spicy Sriracha sauce

 

Holiday Presentation:
Santa's Country Cottage - Nestled in the White Chocolate forest, this cottage is made from rich Dark Chocolate and edged with White Chocolate snow flakes

Meringue Snowmen - Cool as can be, these forest dwellers are outfitted in Meringue and White Chocolate

Milk Chocolate Reindeer - Running through the forest

Meringue Mushrooms - Baked Hazelnut Meringue Mushrooms dusted with Cocoa

Almond Brittle Christmas Trees - Three-dimensional Almond Brittle Trees dusted with Powdered Sugar

White Chocolate Flocked Spruce Trees - Miniature Spruce Trees flocked with White Chocolate and adorned with sumptuous ornaments and ribbons

 

Assorted Confectionery Delights:
